First year students at Grootfontein College of Agriculture, Middelburg EC were welcomed on Friday 15 January, while the academic year started on Monday 18 January.

Grootfontein has a total of 179 students, the highest number of full-time students for the diploma course in the history of the College. There are currently 79 first year, 46 second year and 54 third year students. Grootfontein celebrates its centenary in 2011. A variety of events are planned to celebrate this momentous event.
